In collaboration with our Swedish partners Orbit Supply Chain and PolyRopes, Oceanize has developed the ropework of the future. The ropework has been named VINND and is 100 percent recycled, produced from granules from used ropes and hawses that have reached the end of their life in Norwegian aquaculture and fisheries.
By using recycled material from Oceanize, PolyRopes has succeeded in developing a new rope that is not only environmentally friendly, but also has completely new and upgraded properties. VINND is durable and flexible to work with, and through a long period of testing and improvement has achieved breaking strengths in the same caliber as the original PowerLine, Danline, PolySteel and PolyStar.

"I've been in this business for 50 years, and I've never experienced anything like it. Being able to break down a material, process it, and then end up with a rope and a product that's better than the original - I've never seen that before. To be able to do this journey with Oceanize and to 'reinvent the rope' once again is absolutely amazing," says Benny Widlund, CEO of Poly Ropes.
At a time when large quantities of new “virgin” rope are still produced in Asia and shipped to the Nordic countries, mainly Norway, Oceanize, together with Orbit Supply Chain and PolyRopes, have taken on the challenge of creating a cycle where materials that are no longer used are given a new and better life. VINND is a Nordic rope with global potential to change how we view the use of ropes, and is an important first step on the journey towards a more sustainable future.

- This is a major breakthrough for the circular economy in Norway. Used ropes from the aquaculture and fisheries industry are now becoming new ropes. Through Oceanize's processes from used ropes to high-quality granules and Polyropes' production of ropes, we have succeeded in producing a rope quality that can go directly back into aquaculture and fisheries. We encourage the Norwegian aquaculture and fisheries industry to cooperate with us and contribute actively in this environmental initiative, says Sales Manager Geir Emil Westrum at Oceanize.
Since its establishment, Oceanize has been a leading player in plastic recycling in Norway. In 2024, they installed a new recycling line specially adapted for recycling fiber plastic such as ropes, hawsers, trawls, nets and the like. It is this investment, in addition to continuous quality work, that makes VINND possible.
- New thinking and innovation are a central part of our business. We continuously work on development and quality work to ensure that we deliver solutions that meet the demands of an ever-changing industry, says CEO Dagfinn Hammer at Oceanize.
