We recycle rope from fisheries and aquaculture. At our facility, the rope is sorted, washed and ground before being melted down and turned into plastic granules (small plastic balls). The plastic granules are sent to Nopla in Leksvik, which uses them in the production of shopping baskets for KIWI .

We are pleased to collaborate with Nopla , which is leading the way and truly committed to production with recycled materials.

– Making environmentally friendly quality products from recycled plastic requires a lot of trial and error. It requires a willingness to explore possibilities, experiment and risk a lot of time to find solutions that are at least as good as today's alternative products. And which also have at least as good qualities, but are just much more environmentally friendly, explains Morten Sandaas, chairman and owner of Nopla.

– We are always looking for ways to improve. Phasing in shopping carts made from recycled plastic from the ocean is about ambition and the desire to leave no stone unturned to become environmentally friendly and sustainable where we can, says Jan Eilif Johansen, store development manager at KIWI .
